Territorial AcknowledgementJip-bab is more than the food we eat. It is also about the emotional nourishment, warmth, and care we offer and experience.
For choa’s second volume, we share the experiences of the Korean diaspora residing on Turtle Island (North America). We ground this volume with thanks for their labour and the relationships that allow us to enjoy the food on our tables. These stories and this volume are possible because of the abundant care of the traditional and present keepers of this land. We honour the land on which we live and gather to (re)discover and enjoy the ingredients and dishes that remind us of the hands of our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and aunts; the tastes of our homes; and the threads of our heritage. As a diasporic community, we recognize our place as settlers who have benefited and continue to benefit from a history of broken treaties and colonial violence that has resulted in the food insecurity, adverse health outcomes, and disconnection to cultural heritage that Indigenous communities experience today. We strive to uphold our responsibilities to the equitable sharing of resources and spaces so that all of us may enjoy the care that jip-bab speaks to. We honour the longstanding work of seed keepers, farmers, fishers, hunters, and others who go unnamed and who continue to inspire us to envision what our shared future can and must look like. 영토 선포집밥은 우리가 먹는 음식을 넘어 우리가 경험하는 감정적인 양육, 따뜻함과 보살핌이다.
<초아>의 2호에서는 터틀 아일랜드 (북미)에 거주하고 있는 한인 디아스포라의 경험을 공유하며 집밥을 즐길 수 있게 해주는 그들의 노동과 관계에 감사를 전달하고자 합니다. 이런 이야기들은 이 땅의 과거와 현재의 관리인들의 끊임없는 보살핌 때문에 가능합니다. <초아>는 우리가 함께 살고 모이는 땅에 영광을 전합니다. 우리는 이 땅의 풍부함 덕분에 우리의 엄마, 할머니와 자매들의 손, 우리의 집 맛, 우리의 전통을 연상시키는 재료들과 요리를 재/발견하고 즐길 수 있습니다. 디아스포라 커뮤니티로서 이주민의 역할을 인정합니다. 우리는 깨진 조약 및 식민주의적 폭력으로 이득을 얻고 있으며 현황 속에서 원주민 커뮤니티들은 식량 불안정, 유해 건강 상태와 문화적 전통의 단절을 오늘도 겪고 있습니다. <초아>는 이 땅에 거주하는 모든 사람들이 ‘집밥'이라는 보살핌을 즐길 수 있게 공평한 자원과 공간 공유에 대한 책임감을 지키도록 노력하겠습니다. <초아>는 꾸준히 더불어 사는 세상의 미래를 꿈꿀 수 있게 영감을 주는 씨앗 관리인, 농부, 어부, 사냥꾼과 충분한 인정을 받지 않는 여러 원주민에게 영광을 전합니다. |
